Christina Cita

In 2004, Christine Cita went to my shop and asked me to create a terno gown for a Rigodon de Honor. Unfortunately, she had to fly to the United States before the event so the order was canceled. It was frustrating for me, because she has a beautiful figure with an exquisite face ( note: she was a finalist in the Binibining Pilipinas Pageant). So just imagine how frustrated I was when the terno was canceled.

Fast forward to February 2011, I received a text message from his father asking me to create a bridal gown for his lovely daughter, Christine Cita. I got so excited and inspired. I emailed her numerous sketches as a sign of my excitement. She replied and chose the simplest design I made. She wanted a Filipiniana Inspired Wedding Gown. The next e-mail she sent was the vital stats. She only gave me her Bustline, Waistline and Hips measurement. I may say she was not “makulit” in sending me e-mails. So I just went with the measurements she provided.

Due to my excitement, I forgot to ask the family the date of the wedding here in Manila. I just found out it will be on March 4, 2011. It was too tight for my schedule, but I still accepted the booking, because she was my dream bride. Making a wedding gown in 4 weeks was a tough challenge, and to make things more challenging she was based in the US.

She was not your typical “makulit and OC” bride. She just e-mailed me twice and did not even called. She came to me 5 days before the wedding, it was her one and only fitting. She even forgot to bring her shoes that day. I was so nervous because she did not give me any feedbacks and at the back of my mind there was a nagging thought; “What if she doesn’t like the gown I made for her?”

During the fitting, I kept on asking if she was comfortable? Is she happy with the gown?  She hugged me tightly and told me she LOVED her gown. I was relieved and extremely happy. I asked her to comeback for another fitting to assure her of a good fit on her special day. She just smiled and replied “No need, I’m happy with my gown Thank you Jo!” She told me she will just instruct her driver to pick up the gown at my shop.

I was the one who even insisted that I help her get ready on her wedding day. She was indeed a simple, no fuss girl at heart. On her wedding day, she did her own make-up and she was simply stunning.

Truly a simple, no fuss girl who had just one fitting.
